Ghostbusters Afterlife 2021: Trailer, Cast, Story and Review

Ghostbusters Afterlife is the reboot of the much loved Ghostbusters franchise; a good comedic adventure about ghosts and those who bust them. Ghostbusters Afterlife takes the franchise and makes it a kids adventure movie with a hint of comedy and of course ghosts. This installment takes place right after the original installment of 1984 and focuses primarily on the kids, the movie has a self-possessed tween girl scientist as the leader. Fans of the original Ghostbusters movie will love the abundance of easter eggs and cameos of the original Ghostbusters (Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Sigourney Weaver, and Annie Potts).

The audience can expect to see funny and sometimes fearsome ghosts, and they definitely look better than 1984. As the movie is catered primarily towards kids, parents taking their kids to the movie should know that there are some sexual insinuations that most kids won’t be able to understand. There are some swear words, regardless of all that, the movie is lot more kids friendly than expected. Also, the credit scenes are worth sticking around for.

Ghostbusters Afterlife: Storyline

The storyline of Ghostbusters Afterlife revolves around two siblings Trevor (played by Finn Wolfhard) and Phoebe (McKenna Grace), they move to a small Oklahoma town with their mom, Callie (played by Carrie Coon), to take over their grandfather’s farm. When unusual incidents start happening all over town, Phoebe’s science teacher, Mr.Grooberson (Paul Rudd), tells how the recent events seem to be related to paranormal events that happened in the New York City of the 1980s. Soon after, a supernatural entity communicates to Phoebe and she learns about her family’s past.

When it comes to how good the movie is, Kids between the age of 5-13 are sure to love it. Although the movie fails to capture the magic of the giant Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man running about New York City, the movie still has a good enough way of captivating the audience.

The movie isn’t a disappointment but it does respect its elders and tries its best to keep the franchise alive. The 1984 movie focused on 4 misfit scientists and with teamwork and courage they end up saving the world. Ghostbusters Afterlife follows the same pattern as four kids join hands to save the world. There’s no doubt the fans of the original Ghostbusters won’t love the movie as much, but for the kids, it can end up being a fun time.
